Cubs News: Pedro Stop injury update

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs veteran reliever Pedro Strop has been out of commission since May 6 by a left hamstring strain. It was not ideal timing with his injury as the team is also dealing with an injury to closer Brandon Morrow.

However, 'Stroppy' appears to be on track to be activated sooner than later as the 33-year old threw 25 pitches during a bullpen session on Thursday.

"I feel very good," Strop said. "I will throw again on Saturday. They might want me to have a rehab assignment, but if they ask, I will tell them I don't need one. It has been a week now that I have been doing everything pain-free. We are building strength and working hard to make it stronger."

Good news for Cubs fans about Strop as he is one of the most valuable and underrated players on the team the last few seasons.

Strop has a 5.06 ERA with four saves, 11 strikeouts, and 1.13 WHIP in 12 appearances this season.
