The Chicago Cubs need a healthy Anthony Rizzo if they want a legit shot in the competitive National League Central division in 2020.

Rizzo faced off simulated game action on Tuesday afternoon and according to insider Jordan Bastian, Rizzo faced off against Tyler Chatwood, Dan Winkler, and Rowan Wick as he saw 26 total pitches and took 12 swings (6 balls in play, 5 fouls, and only 1 miss).

Cubs manager David Ross said that things are looking up for Rizzo.

“Looks like all thumbs up from today,” manager David Ross told the media. “I don’t want to put the cart before the horse. We want to make sure he wakes up OK.”

It appears that Rizzo will start Wednesday's exhibition game against the Minnesota Twins unless of course he has a setback from now until tomorrow night.

Rizzo also hit a few dingers during batting practice.
