Cubs Opener has highest TV rating since 2008

CHICAGO, April 12, 2016 – Last night’s Chicago Cubs game on WGN-TV, a thrilling comeback win versus the Cincinnati Reds, received the highest household rating for a Cubs game on WGN-TV since May 2008. The Cubs vs. Reds delivered an 11.3 household (HH) rating, peaking at a 14.4 HH rating. Approximately 381,900 Households and 504,800 Adults tuned in during primetime to see shortstop Addison Russell lift the Cubs to a 5-3 victory with an 8th inning three-run homer.

The next Cubs telecast on WGN is this Sunday at 1p, versus the Colorado Rockies.

Chicago Cubs games have been televised by WGN since 1948. This season, WGN-TV is producing 48 Chicago Cubs baseball telecasts, including three preseason and 40 regular-season games airing on WGN-TV and five regular-season games to airing on WPWR. WGN-TV is also airing Leadoff Man pregame and 10th Inning postgame shows for select games. Highlights of this year’s schedule, including yesterday’s home opener, include an NLCS rematch in July with two games against the New York Mets, an early season matchup against NL Central division rival St. Louis Cardinals, and the regular season finale against the Cincinnati Reds.
