ESPN ranks Cubs in the Top 5 for trade deadline help

by - Senior Editor -

ESPN senior writer Buster Olney has released his latest article ranking the major league teams that need the most help before the trade deadline in 19 days.

"The Cubs should feel confident that their recent rotation struggles are merely an aberration, although everybody in that organization will feel a lot better when Jake Arrieta rediscovers his command," Olney said. "The focus for the Cubs will continue to be adding an impact arm for their bullpen, with a left-hander being the preference. Time will tell whether the Cubs are willing to pay the (high) price for the likes of Aroldis Chapman or if they'll be more focused on someone like Will Smith of the Brewers."

The Top 10 teams that might be sweating hard at the tradeline according to Olney will include the Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, and Toronto Blue Jays.
