Jose Quintana signs with Angels |
The roster is drastically changing for the Cubs.
Former Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jose Quintana has signed a one-year deal worth $8 million with the Angels. The deal is pending a physical. Quintana will be reunited with former Cubs manager Joe Maddon in Los Angeles. He played for Maddon from 2017-2019 in Chicago. In 2020, 'Q' had a 4.50 ERA after a laceration to his left thumb limiting him to only 10 innings pitched after being shut down with left lat inflammation. In 2019, he had a 4.68 ERA in 32 appearances including 31 starts. He has been relatively durable during his career averaging 192 2/3 innings a season from 2013-2019. Overall, he has an impressive 3.73 ERA in 1494 total innings. Recently, other Cubs starters Jon Lester and Tyler Chatwood have signed with the Nationals and Blue Jays respectively.
