CLEVELAND -- Jake Arrieta took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and Kyle Schwarber had two hits and two RBIs to even the World Series as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians 5-1 on Tuesday evening in game two. One day after being shut out in game one, the Cubs offense got back on track with nine hits and eight walks to win its first World Series game since 1945.

Anthony Rizzo got the Cubs off to a good start in the first inning with an RBI double that scored Kris Bryant. It was the Cubs' first World Series run since Peanuts Lowrey scored in 1945. In the third inning, Schwarber, who amazingly was playing in his second game since returning from an ACL injury in April, singled to drive in Rizzo to make it 2-0.

The Cubs blew the game open in the fifth inning with three more runs. Ben Zobrist tripled to drive in Rizzo. Schwarber followed with a single to score Zobrist and Addison Russell singled in Schwarber.

The Cubs used a patient approach at the plate and got Indians starter, Trevor Bauer (0-1), out of the game after 3 2/3 innings pitched after giving up 6 hits and 2 walks. The Cubs were the first team since the 2007 Boston Red Sox to have 8+ walks and 9+ hits in a World Series game.

Meanwhile, Arrieta (1-1) was very effective for the Cubs giving up just two hits, three walks and striking out six in 5 2/3 innings. His no-hit bid through 5 1/3 innings was the longest in a World Series game since 1969.

The Indians got on the board in the 6th inning when Arrieta gave up his first hit of the game after Jason Kipnis legged out a double to right field. After advancing to third on a ground out, Kipnis scored on a wild pitch by Arrieta.

The World Series will move to Chicago for game three on Friday at 7:08 CT when RHP Kyle Hendricks (1-1, 1.65) faces RHP Josh Tomlin (2-0, 2.53). The game will be televised by FOX.
