Jason Hammel is in his 11th major league season, and his third with the Cubs, after he went 10-7 with a 3.74 ERA (71 ER/170.2 IP) in 31 starts for Chicago last season ... is 69-77 with four saves and a 4.49 ERA (667 ER/1,336.1 IP) in 276 career games (218 starts) in 10 big league seasons with Tampa Bay (2006-08), Colorado (2009-11), Baltimore (2012-13), Cubs (2014-15) and Oakland (2014). Is 18-12 with a 3.45 ERA (107 ER/279.1 IP) in 48 starts for the Cubs ... was struck out 276 and walked just 63. Has struck out 1,047 hitters compared to 427 walks in 1,336.1 career innings. Is 0-2 with a 6.98 ERA (15 ER/19.1 IP) and 19 strikeouts in six-career post-season games (five starts) with Colorado, Baltimore and the Cubs. Pitched the 33rd one-hitter in Orioles franchise history on June 16, 2012 at Atlanta, allowing just a two-out, seventh inning single to Jason Heyward. Has started 20 or more games in seven-straight major league campaigns since 2009 ... has won a career-best 10 games four times (2009, 2010, 2014 and 2015). Lowered his big league ERA in each of his first four seasons (7.77 in 2006, 6.14 in 2007, 4.60 in 2008 and 4.33 in 2009). Was named the 2005 Tampa Bay Rays Minor League Pitcher of the Year after combining to go 11-4 with a 3.24 ERA (49 ER/136.0 IP) and 124 strikeouts in 22 starts between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham. Tossed the first-ever 9.0-inning complete game in Double-A Montgomery's history on July 4 vs. Mississippi. Honored as the 2004 Single-A Bakersfield Pitcher of the Year, going 6-2 with a 1.89 ERA (15 ER/71.1 IP) in 11 starts. w Led all Rays minor leaguers with 153 strikeouts and a 2.66 ERA (49 ER/166.0 IP) in 29 combined starts between Class A affiliates Bakersfield (Calif.) and Charleston (S.C.). Was drafted three times before signing with the Rays … originally selected in the 23rd round of the 2000 draft by Seattle, then again in the 19th round of the 2001 draft by Tampa Bay before signing with the Rays after being drafted in the 10th round of the 2002 draft. Attended Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore. … graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington.
