Selected by the Chicago Cubs in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Mater Academy Charter School in Hialeah, Fla. ... Ranked as the Cubs' No. 2 prospect (No. 39 overall) by MLB.com entering the 2013 season. ... Batted .603 with 13 doubles, five triples, six homers, 34 RBIs and 24 stolen bases in 25 games at Mater Academy in 2012. ... Was named USA Baseball's 2011 Athlete of the Year after helping the 18-and-Under squad go 9-0 and capture the gold medal at the Pan-Am Games, where he was named tournament MVP. ... Had committed to the University of Miami before signing with the Cubs.
